Our Behavior Consultation services include Consultation with families and/or school personnel, Observations (at home and/or in school) and Behavior Assessment. By using a behavioral approach, we try to understand the causes of a child's actions and behaviors, and in turn, we aim to teach and increase appropriate/positive behaviors and decrease negative/inappropriate behaviors.
Consultation with families and/or school personnel is customized for every families individual needs. We come to your location of choice, including home, school and have even met at some parents places of business...whatever is most convenient for you. The purpose of this service is to meet with families to address their concerns and determine a plan of action to help improve behaviors.
Observations are usually completed once a plan of action is put into place. The Successful Child's consultants observe behaviors at home and/or in school to determine possible causes and identify practical solutions for specific behaviors.
Behavioral Assessments are scientific methods used to define/determine the behavior, identify the cause, track and replace the specific behaviors. Depending on where and when behaviors are occurring, assessments can be completed at home and/or in school. If after an observation it is determined that behaviors are impacting the child's performance, it is important to complete a behavior assessment in order to establish the most effective behavior plan and give the most appropriate recommendations.
Behavior Plans are established and put into place once observations and assessments are complete. Based on specific behaviors identified in the process of observations and assessments, recommendations are made to target and improve the behaviors. If needed, The Successful Child consultants are available to work with families and/or school personnel to teach recommended methods to increase appropriate behaviors and replace and/or decrease inappropriate behaviors. During this time, it is important that parents and any other person that works with the child is involved and on board to ensure that the plan is a success.
